Marthea Jackson

After three remarkable decades in education, Marthea Jackson has been named this year’s Crystal Apple Award recipient, a testament to her unwavering dedication and transformative impact on generations of students and educators.

Over 30 years, Jackson has taught under the leadership of six principals and has touched the lives of more than 6,000 students—some of whom now send their own children to her classroom. Incredibly, Jackson counts 60 students who are the children of former students, a living legacy that speaks to the enduring relationships she builds.

Jackson began her teaching journey as the only female teacher among an all-male math department faculty. Throughout her career, she has mentored five student teachers and coached students through five Math Counts competitions, always encouraging growth, resilience, and a love for learning.

Known for her remarkable ability to remember every student’s name, Jackson makes each individual feel seen and valued.

Congratulations, Marthea Jackson, on this well-deserved honor!
