Looking for a good read for December? Check out this recommendation from one of our library TAs!

Check out this book recommendation from one of our jr. high students! This would be a great, inspiring read for December!

This year in the library we are exploring books based on the emotions they evoke when we read them. Students can complete each month's challenge for a chance to spin the wheel for prizes in the library. Those who complete all 8 challenges will receive a special prize at the end of the school year. Read along with us at home! This month our challenge is to read a book that makes you feel inspired--just in time for the holidays!

SJHS Drama 3 Presents "Much Ado at Hogwarts"! Join us for this run adaptation of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. Free admission for everyone! Performances are December 3-5 at 7pm in the SJHS Cafetorium.

Get ready for winter reading at the public library!

This month we are focusing on Kindness in our Quest lesson. Keep the conversation going at home! Ask your student what they talked about today.

Thanksgiving traces its roots to 1621, when the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag people shared a harvest feast in present-day Massachusetts. This gathering is often remembered as a moment of cooperation and gratitude. Over time, annual days of thanks became common in many colonies and states. In 1863, during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday to encourage unity and reflection.
Today, Thanksgiving is a time to come together, appreciate the people around us, and reflect on the many things we’re grateful for. We are grateful for everyone who is part of our Springville Jr. High community. Happy Thanksgiving!

Congratulations to our November Be an Ally recipients! Our students continue to do great things.

Parent Teacher Conferences are being held today from 3:30-7pm in the gyms. We are excited to meet with you and hope to see you here!

Tonight our 8th Grade Orchestra performed for their first concert this year. They performed 5 different pieces, including the Theme from Jurassic Park, You Raise Me Up, and a Theme from Fantasia. A big thanks to Mr. Taylor for all of his hard work with our students!

The 9th graders are off to an early lead in the Penny Wars! Can the 8th graders overcome this amount of sabotage??

Congratulations to our Be an Ally Award recipients for the first half of November! Thanks for exemplifying what it means to be a Knight at SJHS.

Thank you to all who have or currently do serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. We were lucky enough to have Chief Tischner come and speak to our students in recognition of Veteran's Day.

Battle of the Books is underway at the jr high! Our teams are working hard to read the list of 24 books as a group. These students have already read 5 or more books as they prepare for the competition in February.

The Penny Wars will take place from November 17-24th. All of the money raised will be used for Christmas for families in Springville in need. It will be a contest between 8th and 9th grade to see who can raise the most money. The winning grade will be announced and get donuts on November 25th- the day before Thanksgiving break. Paper bills should go in your own grade's container for positive points. All change: pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and silver dollars should be put in the other grade's containers to sabotage them with negative points. The containers will be in the front office.

Congratulations to the rest of our October Be an Ally recipients! These students exemplify what it means to be a SJHS Knight!
